here is the scenario.

had about 1/4 gallon of fuel put 40/1 synthetic oil in enough for 3 gallons of fuel. note the 3 gallons of fuel not in yet. just lots of oil and a lil gas with yamalube in it.

i just installed new sparkplugs and started the ski. after giving it a few primer squirts. primer is hooked to the reserve and the reserve was selected on the fuel selector.

ski started a lil and i squirted a lil more in and then it went i gave it a lil throttle then let off and it shot up sounding like full throttle. pressed the stop nothing pulled laynard nothing then after about 9 seconds of running away it just stoped suddenly without me doing anything. the engine was not to hot just barely warm.

what could have happened.

oh and i put inspected the start stop looks good functions fine. got 3 gallons and filled it up.
then disconneted the primer and primmered it into a bottle to get the overly rich mix out.

she started and stoped using the button and lanyard. i reved it can it came down. all is good:lmao:

give me a reason not to worry about it scarry shiot

IDK but if you put the oil in it, before the gas, your mix ratio could be off. I'm not saying that is the reason it Dieseled, I am saying that is a really stupid way to mix your gas.

I'll say it again, when your engine runs away, hit/hold the stop button and PULL THE THROTTLE WIDE OPEN, it will eliminate the bypass situation and kill it.

does this

happen often? luckily I was not on the thing im just thinking it was caused by the oil thing and too much fuel in the carb area caused by the primer. i just dont want this to happen again.

You could run straight gas and no oil and it wouldn't run away unless something else is causing it to do it. It wasn't the oil mixture. It wasn't from the primer either... too much fuel and not enough air won't cause the engine to run away. If was from a lean condition... air in the fuel lines, air leak at the carb/intake/reed gasket area...

It can run with the lanyard off because a piece of metal gets that hot in the combustion chamber it ignites the air/fuel charge. It's called a hot spot.

Always On
Mine did that today also. The problem was the way I had me fuel lines ran.
I ran them fuel in main, return to the other carb main and that return back to the tank. I used T's and both in from tank and both returns to tank runs perfect now.
