SX/SXi/SXi Pro Porposing issues

Hey I'm fairly new to stand up skis and just recently bought my first stand up, I picked up a 96 750sxi. I took it out to ride and I have nothing but problems keeping the front end down I tried leaning foward, moving my stance, leaning backwards, I tried just about every position I could think of nothing stops the ski from porposing I weigh about 260 and I think that could also be a problem with porposing. Any ideas to stop the porposing I have been looking into the extended ride plate i believe jd made it and it was 100mm longer any help would be greatly appriceated.

you can pull off your ride plate and shim it down in the back with some ss washers
this will help keep the nose down
other than that, it is all about technique and body english
relax, it will get better
and WELCOME TO THE X!!!!

I shimmed it down about 3/8 inch, used 3 ss washers on top of plate
I used a bunch of silicon to fill in the gap

I've tried both ways on my Sxi Pro (after fitting a scoop grate first).
An extended does a better job of reducing porposing than shimming a stock plate.
The extended plate also gives better traction in corners.
Don't regret changing the plate or the grate.

the ski has an aftermarket plate and grate i believe there both worx ill have to check from what i understand the 750s are notorious for porposing to begin with let alone adding my weight

The biggest fix is riding time, I put a longer plate on mine and even hull extensions but now that I'm a better rider with more seat time I keep shortening the back up and raise the nose.

keep riding...you'll get it. smoooooooth throttle. keep the bars in your gut....as soon as you straighten your arms, it'll porpoise.

I have the same problem......I cant get going more than 1/4 throttle and the pump catches air and bbbbbZING......WTF I'm new to this too, but I want to see how fast this thing will go........ but just as I get going it starts to bounce......I'm thinking I need to shim or add a trim tab lol........I only weight 200-205! maybe I need to put some weight up front under the hood?

i havent had a chance to get the ride plate yet but ya i got mine to 45 (atleast b4 i wrecked lol) i just got as low as i could and peg it eventually it worked there the porposing and plained out, its extremely sketchy it felt like the ski wanted to fall either to the left or the right kinda like it was tetering atleast until it fell to far on the right side and it ejected me from the tray

This is my handling set up and works excellent! I believe these are key mods and the first ones that anyone should do to total enhance the riding experience.

Worx ext ride plate
R-D top loader intake grate
Custom shortened pole -1.5, with 0 degree bars
Tubby 2s

Of course, maximizing ride time is important.

Note- Jetskiing seems to favor the small-medium size guys. The larger guys (I'm 6-1, 205 lbs) seem to have a longer learning curve than our smaller counterparts. Keep practicing smooth throttle and body positioning, I'm all over the tray per what I wanna accomplish and water conditions. It will become natural after a while. It may take you a couple/few season to be fully comfortable. Patience..., it ain't a couch!

I've had my 750 out about 20 times and I'm just recently able to pin the throttle for 10+ seconds in reasonably smooth water. My dad who has rode twice hasn't gotten it yet. I'm 280lbs.

I don't care who you are..., top speed with throttle pinned is a wild, exciting, sketchy ride especially and typically on chop. That's why we do it..., the thrill of haullin ass on the edge of disaster.

ya its sketchy but i will still prob do it again the next time i get out ya i noticed the lighter smaller ppl plane way easier im 260ish and 6'4" so im screwed all the way around but im sure ill get the hang of it mayb if i shorten the pole a few inches..... sxi steve it says custom pole did you make your own pole its not like one ive seen before and close up pics?
