Surfriding pompano or ft lauderdale

I was wondering if anyone in the Florida area rides or have riden at these beachs. Is it possible to ride here. I would be coming from michigan for spring break and i really want a taste of surf. Coming from a flat water guy.
We would be renting a house in that area and those are the closest beachs or "surf" area around us.
Please let me know. Trying to plan the trip around this.

Been riding pompano / south Florida since 96. Only decent surf spot is pompano north of the Hillsboro inlet. Called Addison reef and completely hit or miss. If your looking for decent swells, I would try sebastian or Daytona.
