Hello I'm trying to install this spring on the xft. I got the spring used has the prevous owner ground down the short side here? And does the short side go into the hole on the bracket and the long ride up the inside of the pole. Thanks

the long side goes into your bracket and the short side goes into the little hole in your handlepole. you have to shave down the longer part so that it doesnt protrude out of the bottom of the bracket......or drill a hole in your hull there so that where it comes out of the bottom it has a place to go.

Thanks Aqua Sergio pmed also. What I found is the location of the hole which is aiming down below the pivit bolt starts the spring off with zero tension. And begins to resist or hold weight when the pole is almost resting on the hood. On a Sj the short side of the spring aims up the pole above the bolt, begining tenions sooner when lowering the pole.

lou......you might try a different after market spring. I have a stock one and a blowsion one. blowsion spring has more angle and push. i put an oem spring in mine the other night and noticed that it seemed to lift even with the pole up but it was definately week. the blowsion spring is difficult to install with the pretension that it has but it lifts much more.
