Plug Chop Results, Does anything look wrong with these?

Frosty,

I am set up similar except no port work and I may be running 195+ psi. I am not sure as my compression guage is not zeroed... the needle sits at the end of the zero range, right where the 10 psi hash begins while sitting unpressurized. My squish is at about .046

Also my chokes have been removed and I am running one screen in the stock arrestor. SuperTune has stated that the 38's dont like that too much.

Main Jet - 135
Pilot Jet - 72.5
High speed screw - 1 1/2 (first plug chop, second chop @ 2-1/2)
Low speed screw - 1 1/8
Needle/Seat - 1.5
Spring (grams) - 95

Thank you all for the help.

yeah, i run one screen but i left my choke plates in when i installed my primer kit.

here's another question for you... you're running the B-pipe right? is it the old version or a new one? the old ones have a smaller ID on the exhaust manifold and headpipe. I sent mine to Chuckie to open up... it was 42mm now it's 49mm.

I even had to send him the manifold and head pipe from my brand new FPP B-pipe to be opened up.

Does anyone think that might be adding to the issue Shifty is having?

I am running a new limited pipe, got it about 3 weeks ago right from FPP. Are the newer pipes set up with a 46mm or 48mm opening? I wish the chokes were left in, I just got all excited I guess.

I will be ordering some 137.5 mains from JSS today. I wonder if I can ride this weekend if I keep the rpm's down.

my new ski has a brand new FPP i got a few months ago, direct from FPP... and it was 46mm i think. Chuckie opened it up for me...

if you do run it this weekend i would not go hard or WOT with it until you figure out your problem. Blowing a motor sucks azz!!

good luck...

btw - are you running stock timing and ignition?

The ignition is all stock, I have read that the '08's have a higher rev limit than the the earlier '96+. When I first removed the chokes I put plenty of fuel through this ski and it wasnt running the best. Also when I put on the head and pipe I was riding for another 10 or so gallons untill I got the 72.5 pilot jets in, which made a noticable improvement also.

Could I have been running lean then?

Could the wall discoloration be from that far back?

Just seems to me the plug looks fine, maybe that is just fuel additives like suggested.

How hot should the base of the cylinder get, how about the head? Should I be able to hold my hand there?
