Plastic impeller housing clearance

I'm putting together a pump for a 95 superjet that has a plastic sleeve in the impeller housing. It doesn't really have enough clearance and turns only with effort. I was thinking of just putting it in and running it. The impeller will eventually scrape the plastic out right? I know it should turn freely and if it was a regular impeller housing I would have to bore it out.

What do you guys think?

Seems like it would "self clearance" just fine.

I bought a blaster with one on it and had the same problem. I took it off and put a metal one on.

you'll have plenty of clearance after the first ride! I typically bore them out if the impellor doesn't fit.

Allright i'm about to put the pump together and let it set it's own clearance.

If someone thinks it's a stupid idea, please speak up now instead of calling me a dumb*ss later if it doesn't work.
