did you just install the turf right to the fibreglass on the tray, or did you re-use the tray pad plastics and glue the turf to them ???
what condition was the inner foam in when you cut the holes out for the foot holds ???

i just got a 98 750sxi pro.
i love it !!!

get wet

I noticed everyone uses cut diamond is there any reason? All I can think is it is more flexible.
Also I have the snow camo or tri-color turf in the tray. Anyone have in opinions on using that color on the rails and sides or should I use a different color.
Thanks

gorilla -
the bottom has 5 mil pading and the sides are turfed straight to the fiberglass the side pads would have been a pain to modify for the footholds and they have holes for the storage tubes

and the foam was dry and there was no indication of water intrusion anywhere even where i dug it out to the bondline

prairie -
i used b-stock because it was cheaper i had the bars before and now that i have ridden diamond i think it is about the same in terms of grip. i'd do some searching on here to find out about the differences because this is the first time i have turfed and have only used the diamond for a few rides.

Back at it!

After a summer of riding every weekend, fall in school, and winter break in NY city i finally have some time to work on the ski.

I am keeping it cheap this year since i want to get a superjet once i start work but i figured i would use what i already have and fix it up nice whether i keep it or not. It will make me happier to be seen on a ski with no purple and hopefully make it more enticing for potential buyers.

After running out of time last spring i never turfed the rails and didn't think it was worth missing a weekend of riding to do so. so that will be getting done as well as removing most of the decals and painting the silly purple hood white or black. I also have had a spare pump nozzle that i finally bored out so i will put that on and see if it helps or hurts.

complete
Remove decals
remove purple rails

to do
homemade rail extensions
turf rails
Paint hood
new bilge switch
new pump nozzle
paint turn nozzle a crazy color (cant hurt and might look cool)

also made a wood shop cart cheap and easy might go with larger wheels later.

The HIN plate on my ski is intact and all but unreadable. is it legal to make a new one i would like to re-do it in AL or stainless but don't want to get in trouble later

Hull repairs

anyone have any advice for doing a hull repair on this area that has scraped through the gel-coat over time. I just want to protect the now exposed fiberglass.

i was thinking of just mixing some epoxy resin and a little chopped up fiber glass and then sanding it smooth and painting it, any problems with that?

There should not be any problem fixing it that way. I had to rebuild the section below my gas tank. Inside and out. I never painted it and has been holding up for several years.

I know I could still sand a little more but, I'll let the trailer and shore handle that job.

zip tied it to a battery strap loosely and used a single thick wire with one twist to hold the top to the side.

will post a pic eventually

I'm not visioning this in my head? I want to do the same foothold, turf job as you, but I'm concerned with not having a fire extinguisher onboard incase I'm stopped by the coast guard or harbor police...

well i cant take a pic now but i will try to show you

if you have 80 bucks there is a nice bracket that Blowsion sells but i didnt

i am only assuming i am legal because to get to it you have to remove the hood and likely sink the ski (not to the bottom obviously). i wont do this to prove i have it unless my ski is on a lift or similar. But the SXR mounts it under the hood and the expensive relocator bracket does the same.

ok well ski is two hours away so here is the best i can do since i don't have time to take pics in the summer and battery is out in the winter

I also padded the bottom of my ext. with some extra turf since it will be sitting on two bolt heads and bouncing around.

I used a super size zip tie but regular would suffice it is snug enough the ext. doesnt move far but can slide out very easy. It is just wrapped around the body of the ext. and the rubber batt. strap closest to the side.

For the top i just used 16 gauge single strand wire we had around it is stiff enough to hold some weight but easy to bend by finger i just wrapped it around the control cables for reserve and then looped through the ext handle with one loose twist that can be undone fast. this was all just to keep it from sliding out of the zip tie
