Piston Wash, how long before taking reading?

How long before you can get an accurate reading on piston wash.

Ive put about 3-5 gallons through my ski and my pistons look like they havent been used. Im guessing im running really rich. Just didnt know how long it took to get a good reading

Why are you concerned about piston wash, did you do some funky porting to your cylinder?

Its a lamey cylinder, trying to get the ski dialed in.

sounds rich to me
lean it out a little at a time until you start to see carbon form on top of the piston

That's plenty of time (3-5 gals) for piston wash inspection.
