300/440/550 pisser question

Ok so i did a 550/650 conversion.... the only mods on the 650 are the stock exhaust mod and a 44mm bcw intake manifold with a mikuni sbn 44 carb jetted to 145 main / 120 pilot / black spring. I got it running tonight in my pool and everything was fine except no water came out of my pisser... I then took it out and checked EVERYTHING. i even went as far as taking every cooling line and blowing in it so i could hear it come out the pump. I back tracked the whole thing and it all was fine.. i then put it back into the pool. Still no water is coming out of the pisser. Can anyone tell me what could be wrong or do i need to take it to the lake and ride it to get it flowing.. I just was afraid if it didnt work i would ruin the engine if i start riding without the pisser going. Help please.

You need to post pictures of your water routing.... or at least a crude drawing. When your pump starts turning in water, it's providing enough pressure to send it all the way through the motor unless it's blocked by a backward gasket or valve or something. Does water come out of the pump when you back flush it? (Try this only w/ the motor running!! ) You say you don't have water coming out of the by-pass fittings when the motor is running. Which parts are getting hot? Head/Cyl or exhaust headpipe? what about the exhaust stinger? the answers to these questions will steer you to your problem.

x2 - I was just about to say that it takes a few moments to get the water coming out of the pisser...I guess that's obvious though....

Also - could the head be on backwards?? I know when I replaced my stocker the ADA instructions were very adamate about having it on there the right way.

mine with an after market pipe only barely spits out water at idle.

if you didn't already then rev the engine a little to see if you just need more pressure

You can also "trace" the issue:

Take the hose off the tube at the back of the engine compartment.
Put a longer hose on it, start the engine, and verify water is coming from the pump.

If not, the hose most likely isn't on the pump, or the pump has an issue at the elbow.

Once you verify water there, then hook the hose to the manifold back up, and remove the one at the head.

Verify you have water coming out of the head.

Do the same thing with the head pipe.

Sometimes the exhaust gaskets are leaking into the water jacket, and the pressure keeps the water from the pump out.
