how the he77 do i resize a picture to use it as an avitar?

If you use Outlook as your mail client, right click on the image, and choose send to mail recipient. Choose to resize the images when prompted, and once they are in your new mail message, copy and paste your web friendly pics!

Here's the basics.

You use a program to resize/scale/whatever that program calls it to get the pic under our max which is 100x100. One thing to remember, if your pic is a "normal" pic, it won't be square, so most programs will keep the aspect ratio the same.

Also, if you just want a portion of it, you can select an area and crop the rest of the pic off, then resize just that portion so it's clearer.

First is the original, then it resized to 100x66 keeping the same aspect ratio, then resized without keeping the aspect ratio to get a 100x100 thumb, then a square section cropped out and resized.
