so how did you like this baby for the surf?

i want to build a surf 550 after seeing this thread.

I love it my hulls a little more heavy than the usual due to water seeping though previous screw holes while installing my joe kenny stance foot straps. Im throwing sick nose stabs and as soon as im in the water with waves breaking in deeper water ill throw a barrel roll i really am close just last time i really committed i hit the ocean floor got a nice punch in the gut and flipped over my handle pole. all good though. Its alot of fun. if you want to do it go for it. just make sure you have those bilge pumps they save my ski. im working out a hood mod right now alot of times i nose stab i get really really boggy i believe its the way water flows in without fresh air until it drains. so as soon as thats improved ill be better than ever. just hard to pull out of tricks when response is soggy coming out. and reinforcement is a MUST i have punished my hull with a few pancakes and hard hard bails trying to get bigger airs or nose stabs. still looks mint and no stress cracks.
Other than that i replaced my reeds last week because i got hydro locked due to having a dead dry cell battery... which i found out was my stator and fly wheel had become as rusted as a boat anchor. so i really recommend taking off the flywheel cover plate and using 1211. to seal it because the factory o-ring alone didnt hold the seal well enough as i thought it could.
Runs great though ill post pics as soon as ive rolled it.
good luck

i'm away from home and on a really slow computer, but i'll look when i get home, was just curious if it had worked out for ya...fyi, don't remember if she or i had told you, bbut we had to lay a couple layers of glass on the sides of her dood, flexed too much when she side flops her stabs....lol or what ever you want to call the attempt...

haha yeah my hood did great from launching 15 20 ft in the air and landing sideways without me ofcoarse on bails. and it never moved my friends at my fiberglass eboxy reinforced the bottom corners of my hood. and i just but a fresh line of silicone over the.. I cant think of the word but the whole ventilation system bond lines. just to ensure a seal with flexibility.
