Photography question

Is it possible to get a pic of a lightning bolt with a standard digital camera? And if so, how do you do it. I've been trying and havent been successful. Here is what I just got about 15 minutes ago. sucks :frown:

Do not know if you can do it on your digital. But on a reg camera, just leave the shutter open manually, then close it after the flash. While on a tri-pod.

Find an exposure that gives you a semi-lit picture with no lightning, then keep using that until you catch a flash, then adjust the exposure down as needed.

Two weeks ago at the Photo Exhibit at the UM art museum I got to see the 'First photgraph of lightening.' and learned how it was captured. neat stuff (yes im a lil nerdy)
