is there any way to prevent the light color turfs( green, red, orange yellow blue) from fading so fast.. i have heard that putting scotch guard on the turf will help or is that just a myth?
any other ways?

Yep, another myth. If you spray stuff on turf that has UV blockers in it, it will be too slippery to stand on (ie, 404 protectant, son of a gun, ect).

I have SOLID yellow turf on my FX,(the worst fading color) and the ONLY way I've found to refresh the color to NEW again is to lightly sand off the faded surface with 40 grit. Besides giving the surface a fresh look, it gives you the new fresh turf grip. Sorry, the sand to fresh doesn't look that great with the diamond or cut styles (the cracks stay faded).

I am the one that started the Scotchgaurd myth. It helps but is NOT the cure all. I ran orange diamond cut turf for 14 months and the Scotchgaurd kept it great for 6 months and it then slow faded the next 6 months and then went down hill quickly.

If I had it to do over again, Scotchgaurd, 6 months later I would coat it again and I THINK that might do the trick. I do NOT see it lasting more than 12 months though.

Hope this helps.

Ill give the scotchguard a shot with my new build. whats the worst that could happen?

You slip off the back of the ski, skin your shin down the bone, go to the ER, spend about $2k on some stitches, and have a huge scar the rest of your life... Got to witness it first hand. I'll take poo stained traction over pretty and slippery.

We took 2 squares of red turf, put one outside on the bench, and another one next to it that we sprayed with sunscreen. The sprayed piece of turf didn't fade at all, the non-sprayed square was almost pink at the end of the day. Sunscreen will make your tray a bit slippery, but it's the solution to your question.

I have already filleted my shin doing the afore mentioned slip out of the tray. I stiched it myself though, hurt like the dickens, but saved me 2k. The slice was about 5 1/5 inches all the way to the bone for most of it. 4th of july weekend 4 years ago now. Still have the scar and one hell of a story! I wear shoes now, lesson learned!
