Parts4pwc on eBay-bad experience

I purchased a stator for a 650sx from Parts4pwc. Couldn't get the motor started. After checking a bunch of things, I realize the timing is 90degrees out. I contacted the seller, to confirm this came from a running ski, and Jeff Hasty said it did. So I pursued a bunch of other possibilities, all dead-ends.

Finally, growing desperate, I sent pics of this stator to several experts, asking if they saw any problems. Sure enough, I got a reply almost immediately from John at JetSkiSolutions, the exciter coil was installed backwards! No way this came from a running ski. I flipped the coil over, and immediately, "vroom!"

I emailed John's diagnosis to Jeff, asking for an explanation. I got none. Only an offer to refund money minus shipping. And then, in response to an email from me that by flipping the exciter coil over I got the ski to start, he cancelled the offer to refund, saying I "tampered" with it!

I don't mind that Jeff may have repaired a dead stator. I don't mind that he sold a stator that he didn't test. What bothers me is he lied about this coming from a running ski. Had he told me the truth, I would have tried a different stator instead of assuming it was a good part and trying everything else first....
