Parts help....

The one pic is a steering from an X2.......I'm not sure who makes it.....I was hoping someone here knows......there are no marks on it.

As for the carb.....I know its a mikuni....It came with the X2.......anyone have any other info about it?

Round body Mikuni 44mm Carb for sure, I have jetted rebuilt and race tuned hundreds of them (I have a small book with tons of notes) even with duals on a 6m6 cased, 61X 701 cylinder, full on ported cylinder, on race gas. That motor proved to me how much bottom end a Yamaha motor could make! But what I now know about the Super BN carbs I'll never go back...BUT I did like how you can tune them with the 3 mixture screws! I wish Mikuni made the Super BN with 3 screws, but they didn't! The three screws were a pilot mixture screw, a TRUE low speed fuel screw (not an enhanced version like the Super BN has) and high speed fuel adjuster (no removable main jet/had to re-drill them).
They worked pretty well at the time, as that was all we knew back then....

I had one on on my 550 and I could never get it tuned. I rebuilt the carb twice and even go some help from some shops. I wasted 2 months trying to get that to run good.

Hey Phill, those round body carbs are not worth much as they are a real pain compared to the super sbn. I sent someone your way on the X2 hull, you still thinking of coming out to Westport?

They were a real problem if water got into the internal passages and started to corrode them, no way to fix that at all. On a good note, when they were set up right they worked fine.

Not sure that we are going to make it to westport....

I think that suva is going to try to make it.......we might could make a deal to get it over there then.......I'm not sure how many skis he will be bringing then

not sure but I saw a brand new base sell a couple months ago on ebay for like $35...so not that much...maybe $50 total if that??
