First: What brand of paint (flexable/strong) will hold up on a ski w/o being cracked or chiped?

Second: I'm trying to find out who can paint ski's around the Charlotte, NC area.
If any of you guys know of someone or have had your ski sprayed let me know.

PS: i'v tryed a few autobody repair shops but no luck

Thanks

Any automotive paint will do, nothing will hold up as good as the factory imo, especially skis that were originally white. But, any good brand will have good results if prepped and spray properly. PPG is what I have used on cars and I have had good results and its a fairly easy system to use. I lil on the pricey side tho. If your riding your ski and and using it like any hardcore rider its going to get chips and scratches just from normal abuse from trailering, riding, well anything that it touches thats hard. Nice part is, almost any ski looks good wet on the water. I just painted my squarenose with black appliance epoxy paint and it looks great on the water. From 2 feet away its not even show room quality but I dont care, its a freestyle ski.
A big thing to saving money on a paint job is do the prep as good as you can do first, if ya know what your doing, even mask most of it before you bring it to the shop, Only do that if you know what your doing prep wise or they may take it off and have to re-sand. Any shop should be able to do it for you, its not rocket science to get paint to stick to fiberglass or whatever your ski is made of, from there its just base/clear or single stage if you wanna go that route but I wouldnt.

From my experience, it's not the paint cracking that is the issue, it's the factory gelcoat under the paint that cracks. Once the gelcoat cracks it cracks all the way through the paint. I have not seen epoxy primers crack from flexing, base coats and urethane clears are flexable, especially when you mix the clear with a flex additive.

I have not had paint come off from flexing, but every paint job I have done gets gouged, dinged, scraped, and eventually trashed.
