Get the case powder coating, its the nicest finish ever after billet thing..loll...and its not that expensive.

That requires complete disassembly which he probably doesn't want to do. Engine enamel works fine.
what would be a good product to remove the original factory powder coat before using some engine enamel?

I did my last motor and bpipe with a rattle can appliance epoxy paint. Held up great with very little prep.I just lightly sanded and scuffed. Washed with soap and water and wiped down with acetone and sprayed it.looked great and held up awesome

Automotive Polyurethane paint, if the engine gets hot enough to mess it up you have bigger problems than the paint

Wasn't trying to speak for you bro. By all means take it all apart and powdercoat everything if you want the most durable finish.

Yes powder coating is by far the best and more durable but you have to fully disassemble your motor or pay someone else to do it. I would love to have it so don't get me wrong but it's way easier and cheaper to spray it. You do have to know of someone or some shop who can do the powder coating and wait a couple days or a couple weeks for them to finish it. Not sure what it costs to powder coat but I know it's quite a bit more than a $5-$6 can of paint. I don't know about you guys but I update the paint on my stuff every couple years because I either scraped the paint off with tools or because it caked with exhaust and oil. Powder coating will be more resilient to the tooling marks but not indestructible. Nothing gets the goop off except harsh chemicals and scrubbing.

powder is sweet i have had tons and tons of stuff powdercoated and am contemplating doing my brand new engine cases in powder, make sure if you get your cases or any motor part for that fact the person knows what theyre doing, alot of guys have done raw steel stuff like frames,wheels ect but proper setup must be made to do cases

Rattle can for me, pretty durable, cheap, and really easy to touch up
