I don't know. I sold the longblock motor about five months ago. I had just rebuilt the top end after melting a piston. I pressure checked the motor and it held pressure just fine before i sold it. The buyer immediately melted a piston too. Paul advised a tear down at this point but the buyer bought another top end and melted it too while messing with the carbs thinking it was a carb problem. I paid for the third top end and advised sending the motor to paul. Paul found the damaged seal and crank when he tore it down this week. Now I'm on the line for more money. I offered a good used crank and new seals and was asked for shipping costs and gaskets in addition.

Maybe I'm a jerk but I say no way... I know you ran that engine for quite a while before you actually melted the piston. The buyer melted at least 2 top ends in less than 5 months. I think it's safe to say that something he is doing is way wrong. If he didn't bother to inspect everything after the first meltdown, that puts him at fault for anything else that may have crapped out.

Everything you buy on a forum, ebay, or craigslist is considered as-is. If it's broken when it gets to your doorstep, that's the sellers problem. If it breaks after it's been used, that's the buyers problem. The fact that you bought him one top end after 5 months is way beyond what most companies would've done for a brand new engine.

I agree 100% with the nut. I think your responsibility ended when he smoked his second topend.

And 5 months? :lmao: Fawgeddabouddit

I blew a hole in my case due to lousy epoxy work in under 6 weeks
I ate it, tore it down, replaced cases and put it back together
and this was a NEW REBUILT (not used) fresh never run motor!
You roll the dice, you tak your chances . .
Got any other used motors to sell, McDawg?
