Blowsion makes one version of the OVP steering for a blowsion pole and also a universal version for other poles which we stock.

I'm not sure if the Blowsion one is bushing or 4 bolt maybe it's both?

OEM poles only accept OEM bushings.
XMW poles only accept 4 bolt.
Most other poles accept either-or.

Figuring out what way the steering is bushing mount or 4 bolt mount will answer your question. :D

The lady before me said she modified something either on the pole or the steering system to use the stock steering system on the XM pole. Do you know what that could mean?

It's a standard 4 bolt system that attempted imo to knock rrp off. I installed a system on a rrp pole for a friend and it just keeps on tightening itself. I've had it apart 3 times already trying to figure it out.

On the other hand my rrp (not ovp) system I literally set it and forget it. I rode an entire season with never a hiccup.

Yeah sounds like she did the $30 mod and opened up the center hole in her XMW pole a few thou to it accepts OEM bushings.

"I'm not sure if the Blowsion one is bushing or 4 bolt maybe it's both?"

Blowsion steering is a bearing steering design and uses the industry standard 4 hole mount first used by UMI. This same pattern was later aslo used by Wamiltons, Blowsion, RRP, and others.

"OEM poles only accept OEM bushings. "

As stock, this is true, but drill 4 holes and the oem pole works with all 4 hole mount steerings. Everyone ran UMI steering on their oem pole 'back in the day' when a/m poles were rare. Easy to run almost any steering on an OEM pole.

"XMW poles only accept 4 bolt."

Not true. XMetal poles were originally designed just for XMetal steering. All of their fixed length poles and many of their adjustable poles do no have the 4 bolt holes drilled and tapped. JetManiac requested that they change the design so that other brands of steering could be used without modding XMetal poles. XS changed the design to fit 4 hole designs, but Xmetal steering still works and doesn't use this style of mounting.

So since she opened up the hole does this mean other aftermarket steering systems won't work or is it fine? I'd really like to swap to a bearing system I just want to make sure it'll work haha.

@JetManiac if blowsion is using the typical 4 hole system that a lot of companies use then why are they selling a blowsion handpole specific OVP steering system and a universal one?

Opening up the center hole will not affect install of 4 hole a/m steering.

Blowsion OVP original steering system was designed to work as a system with just Blowsion pole.

Blowsion also makes a 4 hole universal OVP design steering to work with OEM and other a/m poles.

Use the system to fit which pole you have.

Ah totally forgot about the XMW steering system that are made just for their pole. (do they still make those?)

In summery: A XMW pole cant use OEM bushings unless its been opened up. Once it is opened up it cant used XMW steering. You cant swap back and forth between XMW steering and OEM steering as the pivot diameters are different.

Actually, XMetal makes 2 different sized bushings so their steering will work on oem pole or xmetal pole.
