why is my ski overheating and running like a dog .all cooling lines are clear pipe water lines are clear, but after 5-10 mins. of running great seems to go into limp mode and is hot enuff to fry an egg on ?? Help
I have been having a similar problem on my sxi motor'd X2. All lines clear and have good flow. Seems now that the water is warm, the motor runs HOT! Going to add a dual cooling line soon.
you can put a larger brass elbow on the pump and open up the alloy line at the ends as kawi restricted the flow.
look on the ends and you'll see what i'm talking about.
Mine runs great long enuff to get me to the middle of the lake each time i think i have it fixed.about 3-5 mins. worth of running great. i also have no kinks in the line under the ride plate. still same problem.
If you add dual cooling, and tap all the cooling lines out to 1/2 inch (including the pump line) it should help. If you want the best solution to the problem, get rid of that 750 and get an sxr :headbang:
I went to the lake today and it still runs super hot that it shuts off. I bypassed the water temp sensor, to make sure that it wasn't bad. And it runs a little longer now cause it doesn't shut itself off. It will get hot and die if you are just cruising around, but it will stay cool and run fine as long as you are going fast (like almost WOT) and getting the water really flowing through the motor. All my cooling lines and such are clear of debris/kinks/everything. I had the fatten up the carbs so it will be richer to get it to run cool enough. If i put the mixure screws back where it runs good, it gets hot at any speed. I guess i need to run some dual cooling on it or something???!!
i have been researching how to do the dual cooling. But i can't find a digram of a kawi anywhere. Its all stock but k&n's. I know i tap the pump, then run it through the stock siphon system, and tap into the exhaust mani? Then where? Tap where?
Ok you tap the pump for an additional outlet ,that goes to the drain line,then you tap the manifold for an additional inlet,that goes from the maniflod to the other end of the drain line, then you tap the head and run another pisser out the side of the boat,its pretty much that simple.I am not sure on the 750 pump but my 650 pump had additional bosses for different locations of cooling fittings.
do not discard the oem bilge system.add another line to the pump.
usually opening the stock alloy line does the trick.heel,some s/s skis only ran one 1/2 line and worked fine.
