so right now i am having malone build me a Q8 stocker and he told me he could put a few add ons such as a pipe, trim and mag pump and thats it for $18,000. dosn't that seem really over priced when i just seen a dasa 1000 b.o.b for 18,000? input would be greatly appriciated! thanks Nolan

Malone would be putting together a NEW ski for you with all NEW components.
The DASA 1000 BOB is USED and not even in this country.
If you were to put that BOB together with all new components (motor, pump, hull, pole, EVERYTHING) I'm sure you'd surpass the 20k mark pretty quickly.
Additionally, you'd also be paying for Eric's work. He doesn't work for free.

Just my opinion, but you can't really order a brand-new fs ski put together for you and then make a price comparison with a used ski that's not even in the same market.
If you order it ready-made for you without lifting a finger, then ya....it's gonna be expensive.

Go and price every single component brand-new.
Add them up.
The rest is his labor cost.

What do you expect ordering it made for you, from brand-new parts, with a pro doing the labor? :dunno:

You can't expect him to find you a used stock engine online somewhere for $600 bucks. I think he'd charge you at least a couple thousand for the engine alone, if not much more than that. I think crate engines from either manufacturer run in the several thousands of dollars.
Pipe, another 1k at least.
Pump, figure 2.5k
Pole, another 1.5k.
Assembly takes time, too.

If you want it cheap, then don't have him do the assembly and find your own used parts. It's pretty simple.

Unless you're absolutely uncomfortable doing the work yourself, don't pay him to do it if you want to save money. I don't think I've ever heard anything bad about his hulls and assembling them, so doing it yourself should be relatively easy.

add the hull - not sure what a sky goes for i know his hulls start at $6500
electrical system/start stop switch etc - OEM at least $750
all the hull hardware/straps - it adds up $300

your already up around $15k not taking into account any other items

The point is.....if you feel it's too much, buy your own components for cheaper and do the work yourself.
