Oregon Scientific AT2K helmet vcam vid.

one of our junkie guys had one of these at the start of the summer,it didnt even last the summer... salt water killed it. maybe it use to be marketed as water resistant, and now waterproff, or who knows they might have actually improved it

Speak up ,don't kiss azz
I remember reading that a 4 gig card won't work .
I got mine with three 2 gig cards for $200

Salt water will probably kill these but make sure you rinse them off and grease the o-rings a lot

I also am making a case out of a beer coolie to keep water from forcing it's way into the camera by hard impacts... My idea is that the foam will do two things... provide boyancy if the camera breaks off the mount and will shield it from water intrusion....

the cam was setup at the base of my pole. I am designing a mounting system that will fit to the nose of the ski... I'll post pics as soon as I'm done figuring it out...

Awesome Slutty, I just got one too !
Looking foward to trying that F-er out in Daytona !
I was just going to use the straps it comes with to mount it on the Helmet.
Nick, did you figure out a better way to mount it ?

We had one of these cams on our Dec 3rd freeride at Long Beach, WA. They are NOT sucky Youtube quality. Full resolution and good video quality. Clips 2,4 and 8 are the helmet cam:
http://www.barry-blanchard.com/movies/jetski/freeride/2006_12_new.html
The other clips are a camcorder on the beach.

It seemed to work OK but having it head mounted was a bit shaky and never aimed right. Those three clips above are about all the good helmet cam video out of 1.5 hours.

We need to work out some way to aim it. I suggested some string held with duct tape over the helmet opening to make a viewfinder. One of the guys seemed concerned about surf stuffing string into his eye.

We used silicone grease to help seal it. It didn't have one drop of water in it. It didn't get run through any subs either. One of our guys who didn't attend built a small enclosure out PVC pipe with a plexiglass front. It hasn't been "surf field tested" yet but looks promising.

Looking forward to using it the future and seeing the cool videos others will make.

A universal mount that would bolt to the nose anchor hole seems like the way to go, then it could be moved from boat to boat. Post pics if you figure something out before the rest of us.:arms:
