whoooo hooooo!!!! found out its on my days off!

Should I be worried about about my ski not being reinforced? I have no plans to try anything crazy as this will be my first time in the surf. Also need to get me a helmet? Any recomendations?

Its there a a boat launch I could easily launch with my focus or should I try to procure a beach cart?

Anything else a surf noob should bring???

ski only needs reinforcement if you nose into the bottom real hard or you land on the side doing rolls, upside down on a flip. i wouldnt worry about it. i learned alot on an unreinforced ski.
YES get a helmet!
even if there was a ramp i wouldnt dip my trailer in the water, salt is bad. get a tote or just barrow one of the dozens that will be there.

sounds good! will any motorcycle helmet work?

Do you guys flush after every ride? If so will the be a place to flush afterwards. I'll be staying at my brothers house in Portland and driving back and forth for the weekend so I guess i could flush there.

There are several places to flush. If you are going to Portland every night you can drop in the willamette river or the Columbia depending on where your brother lives. I highly recommend staying in Pacific City. The drive to Portland is not fun to do daily. I live in the Portland Area.

I just reserved a room at the pacific city inn. I though about it and thats too much driving in one weekend plus the there's probably going to be a butt ton of traffic.

Now I need to find me a helmet and built me a cart. :Banane35:

NOT flushing for a few days won't hurt anything.

go to the local bicycle shop and look at the full face helmets.

Cool... i'll hit up a bike shop when i get home. Also have my room reserved in Pacific city.

One question... whats everyone use to secure their skis to the trailer and trailer to vehicle? I'd like think I could just leave it how I normally keep it. I hate to say it but there is bound to be some seedy folks prowling around. My ski is insured but I'd rather have people leave my crap alone.

I know nothing is full proof but it someone decides they want my stuff more than I do they are going to have to work for it.

ski naked- i thought I read a post where you said you'll be competing???? Are you going kick ass and take names on your new ski or is going to be on display only?

Also about that hull...was it pretty beat up when you started the build. I think I remember seeing it at blowsion when I had my footholds put in.

Anyways looking forward to seeing everyone there.

I suck and nobody wants to see hood tricks in the surf nor could I pull them. lol. I will be there but will not be competing. Leave that for the guys that are good. Darin Anderson may be riding my ski in the freestyle comp.

Yes the ski was pretty beat up originally. Cosmetically anyways. Now it is like new inside and out.

It's your first time in the surf. You won't need to worry about reinforcing.
You'll have a hard enough time riding past the break.

Any helmet will work, including mc helmet.

There is no boat launch. Having your own beach cart is a plus, but there are plenty of folks who will lend you theirs.
You can also back your trailer close to the water.
Bring a fire extinguisher, your registration, boater license, rope, whistle.

Check www.blowsionsurfslam.com for accommodation links.
There are a couple of motels in Pacific City, and plenty of rental beach houses.
I would suggest flying into Portland (PDX), renting a car, and driving to Pacific City. It should be about 100 miles.
