options for internal fuel fill?

I've always been again internal fuel fills, seems like some gas always gets spilled on the inside of the hull and then the ski runs like crap for a while. Unfortunatly I have to run internal fuel fill because of custom tank. If i had my choice it'd be external fill

ive seen if where a few people have run the pickup tubes out the fron of the stocker where the fill neck goes and switch the cap to the stock pick up location that way you can still run 2 straps on your tank

still have to cut the tank though...:frown:

that was wat i was gonna do if i did cut the tank.

just wondering how well the external filler mounts onto the tank. screws just don't seem to be enough in my mind.

I did this mod without cutting(first 2 pics) and you can run both straps. The 2nd pic is a mod by El Professor. I just had to bend the tubing and add a little bit of hose to the alum tubes to reach the bottom.

If you looking for cheap than cutting out the top like SfL's is the cheapest way .You reuse your filler so that costs you nothing .
A 1-1/2 inch pipe cap is $2 and you probably already have some 5200 to seal it up good ..
Takes about 10 minutes and costs about $5 .
I have one here I made for a spare in addition to the one in my boat .

Thats exactly how mine was. super quick and free if you have 5200 and the stock cap and filler neck.

theyre stock pickup tubes with 5/16" compression fittings from ace hardware.

also, when putting the screws in to hold the filler, make TINY pilot holes or they wont grab. i was thinking rivets would be an ever better choice.... and maybe more than 6

No shiat sherlock .
even with pilot holes it still leaked even though the screws were nice and tight .5200 = no leak simple as that and just a very small bead .

It's only gonna leak if fuel is filled to the very top anyways my only leaked when I had my trailer tipped to drain water off my boats but didnt leak any other time but I did the 5200 none the less .

I really like the look of the homemade pickups with the stock hole for filler .You do have talent SFL no matter what everyone says about you:haha:

Well, Mr SFl used some silicone on his first ever SFL mod and ended up having silicone in his fuel which ended up in his carb:banghead: . He than learned that fuel and silicone don't like each other . The best way to go is to buy a new OEM rubber seal for this project.

We were able to pressurized and submerged the tank underwater without any leaks:biggthumpup:
