Older Honda XL600R Dirt/Street

Are these good bikes? I saw one listed for sale locally, but looks to be taken care of and in good shape, with a spare set or rims and tires. It's an 87 with about 20,000 on it. What's a honda like this worth? Is this thing going to be a ticking time bomb of trouble?

depending on what you want it for.

if you are looking for a street bike that will tackle the occaisional dirt road, it's fine. if you want a dirt bike that will ocasionally tackle pavement, look elsewhere.

if it was even moderately maintained it should still have quite a bit of life in it, but odds are, at that age and those miles...it wasn't.

I personally would never buy a dirt bike older than a few years, and then only form someone I knew and trusted. these things get clapped out fast and a small jar of turd polish can do wonders. buyer beware.

20,000 miles is ALOT for a bike, specially a thumper.

its like having 200,000 miles on your car.

if youre just gonna baby it around to the supermarket and back, go for it. if youre gonna give it a flogging of ANY kind, fugghedaboutit
