Other OK, why do people put their bilge fittings in the tray?

Seamed like the right thing to do.
Already had holes left over from the fuel selector and choke nob plus it allowed me to keep the sides hole free.
I hate holes on the sides with a passion.

Now before you use the line about letting nasty bilge water flow onto your turf let me answer by saying, I keep my bilge clean. Guess I'm funny that way but most guys who run in salt are much better at maintaining their skis and keeping the motor clean.

i have white turf and have never had it get dirty at all due to my bilge...if you have gas,oil, and silicone coming out of you bilge pump you have a problem and might want to look into that....and i did mine for the same reason there was already a hole there from the fuel selector.

protected for water intrusion ??

Mine are at highest point at corner of hood facing to the outside of tray...i wish i know how to upload pics

I ride 100% saltwater and my engine compartment is heavy silicon sprayed down, anti-seized up, greased up and I would not have a tray jacuzzi in my bilge water...

100% salt for me as well and my motor is well protected, no reason why the bilge needs to be full of slime.
I use Boeshield after every ride and wash it all down with WD-40 every once in a while.
Yep, it's easy to keep it all clean and slime free while protecting everything from salt.

Guess it's all in personal preference. I'm one who hates holes in the sides of a nice hull so the tray works for me. The "slime" issue is a non issue as far as I'm concerned.

Yep, but have had to repair a few so called "nice" RN hulls that someone at some point drilled for a bilge fitting.
As a matter of fact, I have one right now with 2 bilge fittings and 3 pissers that I'm filling in.

A fancy hood, carbon reinforcement, a snazzy pole, quality turf and the sides that look like Swiss Cheese. Brilliant.

some local guy here has two 45* outlets that are on the little flat spot at the very front of the gunwhales, and when the bilges are on (he has a pretty bad leak somewhere) is looks like a water show.

That's where mine are - I love it when they are pumping water!! But, I also reinforced heavily underneath since I was concerned about the hole weakening the hull.
