Super Jet OEM 38 mikuni carb setup question.

I have a set of dual 38's thats going on my 62t. And i was wondering about the reed and cages. Im not sure which way they should be bolted to the mani? Like they are in the pic or turn them the opposite way? Another question I have is should I use a spacer between mani and cases? this setup didnt come with one.

hmmm...on my 62t stock cages, all the reed stop fingers are like those shown in the foreground of your pic...I don't have any of them "connected" like yours are.

My stock setup didn't have a spacer, although today will be my first ride experimenting with the R&D angled intake spacer.

I have a spacer that was for my single 44 mikuni that i modified myself to work for the dual 38s. But not sure if I should use it. i wonder whats the difference in spacer or no spacer. heres my spacer that i moded

To have any effect of a reed spacer, that Riva single adapter is not what you really need, you need a spacer that the cutout holes go over the reed cages so when bolted up between the manifold and engine cases the reed cages are pulled back away from the crank turbulence and helps with some air flow to feed the boot port by not having a sharp turn.

does the crank turbulence really make that much diff? it seems like the flow looks cleaner with the reeds further in the case?ive tried boyseen intakes with setback built in and the r@d with and without the spacer and cant really tell a diff,seems the reeds wear out at the same intervals also? except the vforce2s they last through either setup almost indefinatly

Sorry to bring this back thread from the dead, but I have a single ATP mani that a BJ 48mm will bolt to. I also have an angled reed spacer - the question is to use or not to use? I have lightly ported cyl, 177psi comp, b pipe, epic, etc.. I am switching right now to a single setup and would like to know your opinions on the use of the spacer. I was told that the spacer also increases the crankcase volume, which has a negative effect..?
