Super Jet O8 Chin pad fit on a 2007 pole

I don't understand I am trying to put a 2008 chin on a 2007 pole and it does not work ,I tough they were the same chin pad. is there any trick,

1996-2017 SJ and FX1 chinpads all have the same plastic shell. The only difference is the color of the cover.

The part number for the '07 and '08 pad are the same so it's odd you can't get it to fit.
