SXR O ring stock head?

The guy I just bought my SXR from had the stock head milled and made it so he could use O rings instead of a gasket. The ski is 100% stock except for this. I want this ski to be super reliable.

Ive never heard of anyone doing this. Is this a good idea? For reliability would I be better off with a stock head/gasket? Would I be ok keeping the o rings?
