NYS 2 Stroke Registration Question

Me and a Friend have come to the conclusion that it's time to get off the "couch" this season and buy some stand ups. The only problem is that we can't purchase new 2 Strokes manufactured after 06 in NYS.

I'm looking for some concrete answers on whether or not its possible to buy a new 2 stroke out of state and then register it in NY. On top of the age old SJ v. SX-R debate now we have to figure out this whole registration issue.

this is what I was told: I believe you cannot buy one out of state as a "new" ski and bring it in to register it as a new ski in NY. I'm pretty sure you have to buy it "used".

So, if you find a new one out of state you'd have to have someone who lives out of state buy it new, then sell it to you as a used ski.

It's BS...

I heard that from a dealer in CT but another dealer in NJ said that he has customers from NY do it all the time some how. Plus the DMV has no clue and I get a different answer every time I call.

i do know of a guy that bought one from a PA dealer and brought it in... but his relative owns the dealership so i wasn't sure if they "made it look used" on paper.

The NYDMV is focked anyway... i would just do it...

to register a new ski in NY (as new) it must be 2006 or older. Any new skis after that must be registered as used... what a PITA and a bunch of BS!

call every dealer you can in NY and see if they have any left overs.

sucks bro... don't know what to tell ya...

Yea I'm just gonna go ahead and pick up any SXR I can find within 100 miles or so of NYC. Now comes the prob. of finding a dealer that still has any in stock. Thanks for all your help.
