i agree, some trim down would really help make that thing move! I love that sound....almost like my turbo mustang! I cant believe the power that thing makes....1,200 hp holy crap!

yeah but theres just something cool about 150 ft Tail! that and i don't think i would want to go much faster on the water in a metal boat! OUCH!!!

why do you say its going to blow up? a piston engine is more likely to go boom then a turbine (i should say a well maintained turbine!). just rap it in Kevlar cover and you would be fine. but really turbine engines are very safe. but because they are not used as widely piston engines people freak about them. if you've even been around a turbine engine when something happened you know it really kind of funny. it just spits stuff out the back. I had an Apache engine blow the very first turbine wheel (not Compressor) due glass build up from all the sand melted on to it. all it did was blow out the back of the motor and shoot sparks every where and that was at 100% Ng Speed (24K RPMs). that was a 1,700 Shaft HP Engine!

4. driven by a 78 year ols man

No not 60K RPMs. the max input speed on the speed reducer is 20K.
the turbines in my AH-64D max out at 24K RPMs and 1,700 Hp each. the only time I've seen speeds in the 60 + range are on micro turbines and Turbo chargers those can reach upwards of 100K RPMs.
o yeah and those Tq. and HP specs are coming out of the gear box not the out put shaft of the turbine. tq and HP work a little differently then a piston driven engine. for example. on our helicopter. we can run both engine at 100% and hold the blades from turning (also hold the 2 stage turbine wheel from spinning in the engine) and thats a total of 3,400 Shaft HP!
