Not ski but boat.. F250 vs I/O on trailer

Had several request to post pictures of my carnage from fathers day weekend.

Story goes a Friend drove in with his boat so I could take him to a lake he had never been to. He was following me with his boat when a small SUV with a small utility trailer slammed on his brakes in front of me. I don't know if he thought he was brake checking me or just a moron didn't realize he was at his stop. I stopped in plenty of time with out even locking up my brakes but my buddy couldn't and he rear ended my boat.

I heard his tires and looked in the rear view just in time to see and hear his truck hit and go in the ditch, jack knifing his trailer and blocking both lanes. Than god nothing was coming. We didn't even feel it. I honestly didn't know he had even hit me until after we ran back to make sure they were alright.

Ruint his trailer, got his rear bumper some, then also his front bumper and grill. Got my prop and Gimbel assembly, when I went to replace it I found out my transom was rotten. So in the end it was lucky that it happened because the transom could have ripped out while on the water while towing the 3 tubes or something. That would have been some serious damage and possibly hurt someone. No one was hurt we were joking about the whole thing from the time it happened as you can see me laughing at the cop yelling at morons as my buddy was pulling my boat back on the trailer.

After all of that, we are standing along side the highway waiting on patrol for a report for insurance. We hear tires squeal and another crash, look around and some dude clips the tail light on my trailer with his mirror. Busted his mirror and my one good tail light that was left. I told him to go on because his deductible would be more than his mirror and my taillight combined.

Then as we are pulling the boat back on the trailer, the cop is blocking our lane and directing traffic around us. Some dumb woman in a Lexus SUV comes up behind my buddy as he is backing up. The cop was yelling at her the entire time. I was watching the boat, my buddy was watching me to tell him when to stop. Luckily my wife and daughters were yelling loud enough to get my attention and look up in time to stop him before he backed in to bimbo. The cop walked up to her window a second time and gave her the WTH look for not listening or paying attention then made her back up so we could continue, because my boat was almost in my tailgate, I wasn't going anywhere until it was moved back.

My ski was just laying in the bed of his truck, not strapped down or anything and somehow miraculously it did not move and came out unharmed.

Did we let this little set back ruin our day???

HELLLS NO.
In true awesomeness fashion I took my boat back home and we went on with his boat.

I had my ski too but it had sunk the weekend before and for some reason hasnt been able to use full throttle ever since. It has more power at 1/2 throttle than I do at full. Then the battery went dead on it so didnt get to ride it much.

Yea when that second dude hit it I was in shock, I remember yelling "You got to be ********ting me!" my kids were there and I rarely cuss, and especially try to refrain around kids.

He turned around and came back, I told him to leave before the HP got there but thats exactly when the HP showed up. When we told the HP, he looked at the old man (literally, this guy could barley walk across the highway) the cop looked at him and said "Did you not see it sitting there?" at that point I lost it, I was laughing so hard. We let him go and luckily no one got a ticket. Just a huge series of unfortunate events.

Well kind of unfortunate and kind of fortunate...
Like I said I found the dangerous transom and also found out that there is a recall on the wrist pin of my gimbal assembly too and mine had not been done. It snapped on impact anyway.......
I bought a whole new/used Gimbal assembly and it has had the recall done. Which is not an easy chore. So there was actually 2 dangers I was not aware of that will now be fixed.

My friend that hit me is 19, going to college full time and working 2 jobs to have what he has. I feel really bad for him. We are fixing everything with out using insurance, which insurance probably wouldn't help me, they'd total it and wouldn't give me anything for it. I could sell just the engine for twice what insurance would want to give me for the entire boat. Plus I have 3 years invested restoring this old boat and had planed on redoing the trailer the week of July 4th. Thats slightly postponed.

Another positive, I had been wanting to learn marine fiberglass anyway. Now looks like I really get to become familiar with it and am learning it first hand.

Well, got it ready to lay fiberglass now. Plan on laying it first thing in the morning, letting it cure during the heat of the day, then work it down and shoot paint tomarrow evening. Re-assemble wednesday morning and drop engine back in Wednesday evening.
Hopefully, if all goes well it will be ready by this weekend.
I also have a guy looking at my ski this weekend so hopefully I'll be 100% back on the water in a couple of days. :Banane01:
