I just got my flywheel shaved down for my 96 superjet 760 62T. I put it all back together and took it out today to try it. It run good at first then started acting up. It would idle good and then I could punch it for a few seconds then it would die. Then in the last part of the day it died and didnt start and was back fireing. Any ideas?

I was thinking the same thing I just was feeling lazy today and didnt feel like pulling the whole tank out and flywheel back off but I guess thats what I will do and check that first.

similar happened to me and it was because the flywheel key sheared...wouldnt start, and backfired when rolling the enigne over. caused by the flywheel bolt not being tight enough i think..as it took a little while for it to happen. just a thought!

Take a flywheel puller and cut the main center bolt down to 35mm long where you can get it in between the fuel tank and the front of the cases. Use three stock 8mm x 50mm long ( stock yamaha head bolts with wide washers added ) that will be used to thread into the flywheel and find a steel dowl that can be used to sit between the center bolt and flywheel nose. The three head bolts should be spares that will only be used with the flywheel puller and never go back to mounting a head of course. You will need to purchase a yamaha flywheel holding tool or fab one up and then use a ratchet and cheater bar to break the flywheel bolt loose. Reinstall bolt with a torque of 50ft pds and you will never drain and pull your tank again. Also when setting the woodruff key in place a little white grease in the keyway holds it in real well while carefully sliding on the flywheel.
