Nose stab to the left or right?

Ok...this should probably be in the tricks section but i'm sure theres more traffic going this way.

anyhow, i have two footholds in the back and i just won a front one thanks to Highroller Customs!! anyhow, i'm regular stance...left foot forward. With wakeboarding it is normally easier to make your jumps to your heelside.

with my left foot forward, should i be making my stabs to my right or my left? i feel like left is natural, but if i go right, i can lean my weight over the ski and flip it easier. i know its all personal preference, but which way technically should i be doing them?

thanks as always

There is no "technical". Whatever feels best to you.

I can do them only to the left.

I can do it both ways, but I prefer to go left. I prefer to do stabs with my feet in the holds, however, I can do them surf stance as well. Whaterver is comfotable.

I can go either way off a wake or wave, but have only practiced left on flatwater. Either way I go left about 90% of the time. I've never tried it with a staggered stance though. I always go with my feet in the holds so I can kick the ass end out as I rotate. Seems like it would be tough to keep the front foot in the tray without a strap or something

i watch the guys on the oceanside vids, and almost all of them ride surf stance. i noticed that if they were riding goofy footed, they stabbed to the right, and vice versa to the left. again, it may just be their personal preference, but I know that the guys that I ride with all stab to the left, but they wakeboard/snowboard goofy...which is why i was asking.

I'm "normal" stance - left foot forward, and I can stab both ways, either in the foot holds or with my left forward in a strap. I haven't tried right foot forward, that would feel too weird. Mind you, I don't own the most spectacular stabs (especially right since I've just started that this year) but I can stab either way.

so you're saying...with your left foot forward...you make your stabs to your left. thats what i do as well...but as i'm watching alot of different riders, i see alot tend to shift their weight across the pole (thus if you're standing regular, stabbing to the right)

we'll see...i'll have to pay attention when i'm actually doing stabs this summer to see which is easier/feels better, etc....along with what looks cooler :brap:

Correct, I stab left mostly, learned it first and it's most comfortable.

It's all about what's most comfortable, just get it solid. Then worry about stabbing to your "off" side if you want.

I would think about it less and just do what feels natural. Usually one way will just feel better and you will work off that. There is no right or wrong.

backside is harder and hurts more.

When I first started trying last year, I went only to the left. But for some reason this past summer I started going strictly to the right. ?? I also roll to the right. Usually with both feet in the holds.
I think I'm actually going against the grain due to my setup when I try my stabs and rolls to the right when it comes to launching off of boat wakes, but that's just how I ended up doing them this year. Didn't even consciously realize that I'd changed direction until people started commenting on it, but I guess to the right is just more comfortable for me. Going to start trying to go to the left also though next spring. I'd like to be able to stab/roll both directions.

I roll right. Goofy foot, but normally have both feet back in the footholds for stabs.

I do think that stabbing Left is better, since if you mess up and wind up in the water with the ski on it's side you'll have the carbs up/exhaust down. Hasn't been a big deal for me being carbs down, but it does increase your risk of water ingestion.

Do what's comfy, try both ways. Left may be a little safer for water ingestion, especially when learning (where you'll be on your side more often).
