I'm not sure if this is a repost or not, but I received this in my email from NJ/PA Crew.

Read this...

http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/2006/Bills/A2000/1953_I1.HTM

It said this in the email...

"There is a presentation before the whole assembly on Friday, 6/30, in the New
Jersey legislature regarding a bill that would require liability insurance. The
limits would be $100,000 and would be required for all boat owners, under the
present proposals.

This bill requires that coverage shall be maintained in an amount or limit of
$100,000 on account of injury to, or death of, one person, in any one accident;
and $200,000, on account of injury to, or death of, more than one person, in any
one accident. Under the bill, a person who operates a vessel without such
liability insurance is subject, for the first offense, to a fine of not less
than $300 nor more than $1,000 and his right to operate a vessel on the waters
of this State shall be suspended for a period of one year. Subsequent
convictions subject the person to a fine of up to $5,000, imprisonment for 14
days, and suspension of his right to operate a vessel for a period of two years.

I URGE you to PLEASE write your legislators! Make phone calls and be heard! They
are voting on this bill tomorrow! Make sure they know that you do not support
this bill!

Insurance on a pwc isn't too baldy priced, but when you own more than one pwc it
becomes very high! PLEASE don't sit back and let NJ take advantage of us even
more than it already does!"

i think i got liability insurance through my parents home owners and its like 5 bucks a year and covers up 50 k in damage.

im sure for a few bucks more they would make it higher.

but that was on my old 550.

So long as its on all boats you can't complain too much. How do
they come up with numbers near 10x the minimum for car insurance though?

One thing for sure, as soon as insurance is required the cost will go way up.

I don't know why you WOULDN'T have insurance all it takes is hung up throtle cable, you fall off, ski T-bones a boat full of Nuns tansporting criple kids to the beach:bigeyes: I already have more then 100k coverage on my ski, carry 300k on my truck, and million umbrella for house and anything the other doesn't cover. I agree though once it is required they have you by the short and currlies and the pirce goes WAYYYYY up just like everything else in NJ. My auto insurance went up 3x when i moved here.

I do see a point with your statement. I myself carry 300k on my vehicles and have a homeowners policy that covers the cost of a replacement for my entire house should anything happen. The problem is that carrying all my toys (dirtbike, 3 skis, and a boat), house, M3, Truck, insurance, etc makes it tough to cover on one salary being single. Adding insurance to my skis and my boat makes things that much harder. Jersey has really screwed me from when I lived in PA. I had 3 vehicles in PA which ran me $725/6 months with full coverage for insurance. When I moved to NJ my rate jumped to $2950/6 months. I have since sold one of my vehicles and now I'm down to two just to make ends meet. This state blows.

Oh yes . . . and it's not technically a break-up if your mouth percussionist expert dies at the ripe old age of 28.

Just so happen to get my policy renewal in the mail today.
$261.50 for 12 months. 300K liability, thought i had 100k but I guess I was wrong, and full market value replacement as if market value is anywhere near the actual value of our skis, maybe 1/2 at best. Also I am pretty sure you are already required to have insurance for ATV dirt bikes etc in NJ, I know i do. I rather spend $260 a year and not have an issue then not and spend $300k all at once if there is an issue. I would have to pay $260 for over 1150 years before it cost me more then one 300k accident/law suit. People complain about NJ insurance and say it's the state costing them money, its the people not the state. the majority of insurance costs is based off the other people driving around you and lets face it NJ drivers SUCK. More then once I have been on the GSP hitting my old trucks speed limiter (95 mph) and not keeping up with the traffic flow and I'm talking mid afternoon traffic not late night open road traffic. Also it isn't like NJ insurance rates were a big surprise when you moved here, Hell i knew they were bad long before I even knew anyone living here. Cost of living my friends, if you don't like the legislastion stop complaining about it and do something. VOTE!!!!!!

I ride I vote, were you an aide for Mcgreevy??
Actually i didn't live here then. If I had and I didn't want him in office I would have campaigned against him to increase the chances of being represented by someone I felt would do the best job for my ideals. I sure wouldn’t passively stand around and let people with contradictory agendas walk into office. Anyone can complain and cry they don’t like something, unless you actively do more then complain and place your one vote you don’t have much right to complain. This is no place for a political debate and I am not trying to start one. Over and out 10-4, peace we out!
