Hey guys!

So my budy and I just got a couple of 91 SJ650s with a trailer with maybe 20 hrs on them for FREE :Banane09: Yes FREE. An old lady had them new and used them 1 summer. They need nothing. Like I said they have maybe 20 hrs and all we did was replaced the plugs and that was only b/c they are 17 years old. Any ways now that im done gloting.....where in Oregon can I go to get performance parts for thease things. Dont need anything big just want to boost performance.

If they've been sitting for 16-17 years you need carb rebuild kits at the least.

It depends on what you want to do with your PWC and where you are located.

They suprizingly really dont. She didnt have any gas in them and when I put gas in them and started it they both fired without hesitation.......What are some signs of needing a carb rebuild? Besides gas being dumped out the exhaust?

No nothing that I saw....I actualy looks for an old Mustange that could have been hiding.....but nothin

if it started up, your fine............. usually hard starting is a sign the carbs are shot......

look on here for used Pipes, or heads for them, advance your timing, send the flywheels off to be lightened ( $60 or so) and ad a good low pitched aftermarket impeller.

then you will be good to go for a while.

The pips that you are talking about.....are they the ones that I've seen that exit out the side of the hull insted of out the back? Any brand better than others? Is the low pitched impeller better for "stunts" than speed?

No pipes im aware of are designed to exit out the front.

Some folks do that because... well, im not sure why, maybe because louder seems faster?

and yes, generally the lower pitch the impeller, the better the boat will launch out of the water for jumping, tricks, and stunts, and the like.

Sorry I gotta respectfully disagree. I wouldn't even start a motor that's had gas sitting in the carbs for that long (well, maybe just to see if it runs). And even if they do run the performance will certainly be improved by a good carb workover.

Because the exhaust backpressure variations (during the tailstand for instance) do not affect the out the hole performance that much. It's not like that really matters nowadays.
