i know that wasnt a dkhead remark lmao. im just that way sometimes. its humor. im known as a smartass but in a funny way. now, is it safe to asume that the different pitch i see on some of the grates increases induction?
Correct, the steeper the scoop, the more the motor will load water directly to the pump

Just so you get more help quicker, post up q's like that in the fx forum. I was going to alswer, but don't know if SJ intakes are interchangeable with FX's. I like worx 201 intake grates, but others will chime in I'm sure.

I'd ride the ski and see what you think first. The fx-1 is not for everyone and especially if you're new to this. It's just my opinion but I'd get it running first and ride it to get a baseline and an opinion on the ski. If you like it then you can paint it and start with the modifications... That way you will have a good comparison and you will have your own feedback and opinions about each mod you do.
I'm not saying no to seek out advise from others on what mods to do and what the hot setup is but I think you should ride it before you dump too much money into it

yeah. i had planned on doing it that way. just wanted to get some ideas set in my head. does a persons size have anything to do with the fx1?

Not sure if you've ever ridden a stand up or not...but if not, then the FX-1 is pretty much one of the toughest skis to learn on. Just a heads up...your success will depend on your attitude and willingness to get back up. Me, I get p!ssed when I get dumped and get back on ASAP so I can rip it a new one. Like others have said, don't go crazy modding it yet. Get it running and ride it...if you like it, keep it and mod it...if not, then you got a great deal and can make some money to put toward a roundnose superjet.

Heck, I can ride my roundnose superjet all dang day...but after 10 minutes of trying my friends FX-1, I'm exhausted and cursing like crazy.

I'm 5'6", long torso same as you, weigh about a buck fitty.

The FX-1 wasn't designed to be for everyone...it is very narrow. They only made it for 2 years for a reason. :)

thanks for the advice. im going into this pretty much just like when breaking a new horse. does that sound wierd? if i get thrown off i HAVE to get back on. right then. and the way everyone is saying that its the hardest only pumps me up more. i cant wait to get this thing in the water. by the way how do i get water to it when working on it? without it actually in the water?
