Newbie Help?

Hello, I am new to this site but I have been lookin around on it for a while. Last year I bought a mostly stock 97 sj. And now I am wanting to put a few goodies on it such as intake grate, prop, ride plate, and maybe turf/footholds for now. But I cant tell if the ski already has an aftermarket prop in it or not. I have lost the guy's number I bought it from. So is there any easy way to tell. Also the ski has a worx ride plate that sticks out 2 or 3 inches from the hull. Which I dont think is good for freestyle so should I leave it or get another one? Thanks for any help.

Get under the ski and look up in the intake grate with a flashlight. You might be lucky enough to spot some numbers and letters or a company name on the impeller.

Yeah, I just had the same problem with one of my newly aquired FX-1's. I couldnt read the pitch numbers even with the pump out. I took some clay and pressed it on the prop hub where I could see "Skat - T" and did an imprint, pulled it out and saw it was an 18/23. Which happens to be the second best impeller for the 122mm pump.

Hmm I didnt think about puttin clay on it. I would proabably have to remove the intake grate though so I could get to it or get a better view and maybe see some numbers or something. What about the ride plate would it make a difference if I was to get one for freestyle. Thanks for the reply's

If that prop is painted (same color as the pump)than it's the stock junk.
Many here like the stock ride plates with a d-cut. I'm one of them.

take your pump apart..... its good practice anyways... good to know how to take things apart and put them back together...
