This may sound stupid as hell or whatever, but I'm picking up a 90 kawasaki 650sx this weekend. I'm finally able to afford my own and stop using other ppls crap this summer, but anyway I'm mechanically inclined and pick stuff up really fast. I know engines in general pretty well, can paint and ride most anything fast, but I'm really getting interested in the freestyle part I'm looking for some good sites for the 650sx ski to put high performance parts, freestyle parts, paint, things like that. Within a decent budget. Can somebody give me a kick in the ass in the right direction, and be my Sinsay(not sure if I spelled that right but you get the idea) email [B]JayB704@hotmail.com[/B]:hail:

Depending on how much $ you want to spend and how serious you are you have a few options. But first I'd ask yourself how into this sport are you? Would you want to put a lot of money into a ski just to find that out the hard way that it is limited compared to the newer skis? Just my opinion, but I would ride what you got for a summer and spend as little as you have to then think about the above questions. But you can get parts for that ski pretty cheap if you're patient and look around.

If you decide to go ahead and mod it you'd want to do the basics first.

- Definitely a pipe, I have a Coffman's and would recommend it. I believe there are a few others that are decent too.

- Larger carb over the stock one.

- Longer Ride plate to help reduce porpusing.

- Top loader intake grate.

- And put a block off on the crank case water release valve if not done so already. They fail and will cause problems.

Thanks, I'm picking it up this weekend and I'm going to take it out for a bit to see how it rides, then decide what I'm going to do. Oh yeah you have to ignore words I use every now and then just think of crap and **** as stuff, thats just how it comes out sometimes. Just used to talking to ppl that know me. But thanks you guys reply fast as hell!!!

i have a 650 SX, and i love it, i know its old and everyone will be constantly be whispering "get a superjet" in your ear, but the 650 is deffinatly a cheap and FUN ski... i had mine all last summer and this year i decided to mod it some... i've got a coffmans pipe, a 9-17 Skat, mariner plate, and a bigger carb... it should be a fun ski this spring

I think the pipe carb and prob made a huge difference on my old 650. If you decide to get a pipe i would recomened the factory pipe upgrade the carb it was a night and day difference between the stock carb i think it was 28 to a 44 sbn. IF you havent already block off the stock oil inj. they are known to fail. I got alot of parts off ebay and the other site for mine relitivly cheap.

Put some footwells on that thing. I started out on a 650sx and that thing would sub like crazy. Some of the longest and deepest subs I have done we on that 650...........I mean like 3 sec water goes calm subs.....hell yeah.

so you say you havent picked the ski up yet? my advice is hold out for a super jet. youll eventually want one. why put the money into a 650sx?...... unless youre getting it really- REALLY cheap.

id have to say that the 650sx is my LEAST favorite hull design (never rode a 300sx). id rather have a 440/550 hull than the 650sx hull. the handling is awkward. the pole pivot is WAY to far back and up to be effective.

dont get me wrong... if its your first ski, youll have fun on it, and thats what its all about- fun. but considering future investments now doesnt hurt either.

Couldent have said it better my self... If it is your first ski, ride it and have fun with it. If you decide you would like to get serious into the freestyle/freeride end, of it save your money and buy a superjet rather than mod you sx... You will save a bunch in the long run...Welcome
