newb questions

Everyone has been really helpful on my build so far (2004 Superjet) Problems I encountered today: trying to remove carb, is it best to remove exhaust on starboard side first. Second, how hard to I have to pull the pump assembly to remove it; I'm pulling down and out, but jees... maybe I'm just weak. And 3rd, what does this blue line in the pic do. I think it may have been hooked to my stock exhaust, but heaven knows
Thanks in advance,
Wen

I think the blue line is the vent for your battery...dont quote me on that...

removing carbs... simple... just take the flame arrestor off.... get a stubby 12mm wrench or cut a regular size one down to about 3" and take off the 4 nuts holding your carbs down.... you will have to squeeze in there... its kinda tight.... but once you get those nuts off you can wiggle the carbs free from their seal on the gasket....

Your pump has 2 pins that go into your hull... they go up into it, so you must kinda tap it down to put those pins out from above and then you should be able to just wiggle the pump out... should not be that hard once you get those pins to come out....

good luck

I think I have a clear line that is about 3 ft long that comes from the battery: I don't know if the blue line that goes up into the handlepole connects to it, I don't think it does. I'll try the pump and carb suggestions tomorrow am. Thanks for your help Eric. I'll see how far I can get with re-jetting the carbs and tuning the carb before I run back to the X
Thanks again,
Wen

There are no clear lines in a superjet unless someone else put them there... I think the lines that go up into your pole are the green tank vent and the blue battery vent and then the steering and throttle... thats pretty much it... a lot of people dont even use the battery vent... if you have the hose there then I would still use it... keep up the good work on the ski!

The clear line might be the vent tube that came with the battery. Looks like that blue line runs down the exaust side of the engine, maybe a pisser on the bars?

dont think so... thats a stock line pretty sure... you are prob right though about the clear line that came with the battery... the blue line should be the stock battery vent... pretty sure

there wasn't a pisser on the bars, so I don't think that's what it is. The clear line was connected to the battery and I would be inclined to say it was stock.

Anyways, now I can't get the reduction nozzle off; it appears that it is epoxied to the housing. Is there anything short of a blowtorch to get it off (alright, I've been trying the blowtorch, but it's not working yet) I'm looking forward to installing my hooker impeller!

prob. has silicone between the reduction nozzle and the wear ring... doubt someone was dumb enough to epoxy it... at least I hope so....

use a screwdriver or something with a flat edge and tap it in gently with a hammer into the tabs on the sides you will see.... that is for parting the nozzle with the wear ring... it will seperate then most likely...

I dont think any line yamaha put in a superjet was clear- that is why I am like 95% sure that blue line was the original batter vent line... it rings a bell from when I tore all my stuff out earlier this year...

now that I examine it, it does peel off like silicone, not epoxy. I'll try the screwdriver again; I was a little concerned that if it didn't go in between the housing and reduction nozzle I would end up denting the housing- there's like no gap

cool.... now dont be surprised if that impeller takes a little elbow grease to get it off... and use anti-seize on the threads when you put your new one on... I am jealous of your new impeller! I have a nice one, but that new hooker looks pretty cool!
