New X2 owner!!

Well, after drooling over the X2 since I was 13 I've finally taken the plunge and added one to the stable.

It's a '93 that according to the owner is stock. It does have an Ocean Pro rideplate though. The thing is CLEAN! My '05 Yami has more scratches on the bottom hull than this X2. I ran a compression check and it read 180front/177rear.

Oh, and here's the best part: $500 including a new AGM battery and shop stand.

Anyway, onto the mods now.

Nice find!
Seems like you have a skimmed/aftermarket head then. Use quality of fuel accordingly. Also convert to premix for peace of mind....

Great find! 2 things I would do before riding it:

1) Disconnect the gas tank vent hose. This is the worst for getting water in your tank. Just be sure to vent the bilge well before starting after letting it sit for awhile.
2) Remove the oil injection system. Go premix! 40:1 I would definetly run 93octane with the 180psi.
3) Check your crankcase drain. Make sure it has a nice click to it when pulled, so you can be somewhat sure the spring is still working.

Also the decals look like the 89-90 year, but your ebox looks like later generation. So not sure about that one.

The title and both HIN plates (rear & under battery) say it's a '93.

Pre-mix is definetly on the short list of immediate mods.

re: tank vent
So I just pull that hose off and let it hang there?

re: Crankcase vent
I'm pretty sure it works as the ski had sat for 2 months and would start for me until I pulled up on the vent.

The only other thing I have planned in the near future is a lanyard start switch because that little pin on the start button is broke.

Just pull the hose. I remove them all the way to the handle bars and zip tie the rubber shroud that the throttle cable and start/stop wires go through to minimize water entering the motor compartment. You should also empty the air/fuel seperator when you disconnect the hose. I bet its full of water. I cut my air fuel mount plate out today to make removing the gas tank easier.

For the crank vent, 2 of my 650's had a nice click when the vent was pulled. One did not and it started leaning out for no reason at all. Removed the crank vent and this stopped. Just something to watch out for.
