New (to me) Kawasaki 440 1985

This is my first stand up. The kids are grown and gone and I simply needed a new challenge.
A very simple question: I am still in my falling off stages of learning and noticed the engine compartment gets water in it, despite new seal around lid. Is there a drain of any type for this compartment? I don’t see one anywhere.
Thanks. I am sure I will have more substantive questions later!

First off, welcome e to the Site!
Is it a lot of water or just a little bit splashing about? Some water in there is normal.
Look the engine bay over carefully to see if there is anything that is obvious like hoses, exhaust lines, etc that might be possible leaking. You may want to put some water in the hull to see if any leaks out.lf none of the that turns up anything than take to the ramp and run it while it's still strapped down to the trailer. That may show the problem

Post your results please

Thanks for your reply. I have searching the web for parts diagrams and I now understand there is a filtered bilge drain that runs on siphon action off the pump when running. My issue today was I swamped the ski close to shore and then just set it up on my hoist, so there was no running of the engine to drive the siphon action. I sponged the water out, which was a fair amount - up to the bottom of the battery box. I will run it looking for leaks of any kind, but I believe my issue was my own inability to remain upright, and then not running the ski to drive the bilge drain action.
I am looking forward to mastering this thing!
Thanks again.

Welcome!

If possible, back it down into the water and run it on the trailer with the hood off. Look for water leaks around exhaust couplers and water lines. Also look to see if water is coming in through the hull anywhere.

all I got for a '85 440 rider is fall to the left, try to keep the fresh air snorkel dry.
also, knee ride a bit to give the siphon bilge pressure to work with. Three minutes of that then back to drowning yourself...........
