Blaster new to jetski and blaster!

hey everyone, so i just bought a blaster and am new to the jet ski world. took it out last weekend and it was a blast!

a little background on me, im in the military 3 combat tours all to iraq. live in tx from ohio love the buckeyes. i own a 08 wrx with a avo FMIC, avo 380 turbo 1000 cc injectors cai full race suspension ect ect. so i love to mess with and modify things.

so with that being said of course i want to put new parts on my blaster, but also i noticed it bounced on waves easy is there away to smooth out the ride? i know i want to put a exhaust pipe on and from what i have read it the factory one is the best. ( i cant remember the full name runs like 700 tho ) oh i guess i should mention i am riding on a lake not surf.

thanks in advance for any advice.

welcome aboard and congrats on the Blaster purchase great choice for a first ski.

The pipe everyone prefers is the Factory B Pipe. If you're having issues with the ski bouncing you can try an extended ride plate and an aggressive scoop type intake grate.

What part of central Texas? We're down the rown the road in Corpus Christi.

if ur new to a blaster im sure u know they r a little tricky climbing on them when u fall off, 701 industries makes a lot of badass blaster parts which the main piece being there steering stem it makes it much easier to ride/turn/and to side mount. highly recommend it along with a scoop intake grate and extended ride plate

The lager one has to be a Blaster 2....ride the smaller one more, they are much more fun the more you ride. The b2 will get boring quick. Put more weight on the outside rear corner when you're turning to keep from diving nor sliding out.

nope yo are incorrect they are both blaster ones. the year difference made them a bit difference in size. bigger one came out with the 760 motor. i can get you more info such as info on id tag. both tagged under b1's and bot are registered differnt lenghts .

You should probably dig alittle deeper into what you have.... ALL Blaster "1's" are the same length... the only difference is the color and 62t dual carb vs 61x single carb (both 701). Blaster 2's are wider, longer and came stock with a 64x (760)

By the way.... you might want to click on 701Chris' links, he knows what he's talking about

you're probably right. very sorry for my mistake.

The only blaster that came with a 760 in stock form was a blaster 2, and yes, it is bigger than the original blaster one. ALL blaster 1s came with one of the 701 based motors.

LOL. Chris, you need to get your $hit straight! :)

Taylor2000, you should post a picture of both so we can help you verify what you have. The HIN's could have been changed (not legal or recommended).

Aiii .. miss the military. Civilian life is full of people that dont stand by a common cause. At least in battle the enemy is clearly defined and we know where the bullets come from. Welcome and im sure that you will make some amazing friends on here .... some really good okes on here

taylor, you might want to do some research here buddy. B1's are the same length and width no matter what year. The blaster 1 is what everyone uses on the race course. the blaster 2 is usually relegated to the loaner or wife ski. I'm sure you will find some information to dispel the collective wisdom of this forum though and you may have found the illusive Blaster 1.5 Unicorn ski at last..........ohhhh to chase rainbows one day.

taylor, you hijacked the hell out of this guy's first thread. ease up bro.

loser05: Welcome to the blaster family. You made a good choice. As suggested, you cant go wrong with a Factory Pipe. The bouncing thing is just something blaster riders have to deal with but you can get much better handling with a scoop grate and ride plate. Worx 201 is a good scoop grate, Jet Dynamics also makes a good one. Worx, Jet Dynamics, Protec all make good ride plates.

I would start with those items and go up from there.

Easy way to tell the differeance is a b1 is a one seater with a flat bottom and b2 is a two seater with a v bottom. B1 came in two color options yellow and purple, and yellow and red. B2 came in white and yellow, and white and green

Look the same to me except the first one is too small and no fun. I wish they made a 3 seat blaster 1.....then I could really tear up some buoys

Loser05: Welcome to the hobby / sport... The first thing to put on to try to solve your problem is a scoop grate. A lot of the bounce that you feel is the boat coming out of the water, the pump sucking air and loosing thrust, just to slap back down and reengage. There is a sweet spot position that you can find for you body that will minimize this in very calm water, and a scoop grate makes that sweet spot wider and easier to find. The Blaster has a wide draft though, it will always bounce to a certain extent. If it really bothers you the only real cure is to change to an X2.
:wall:

As for the Blaster 1/2/3 argument: Some of the confusion may come from the major revision that the Blaster 1 went through. The original purple Blaster (1) was a single carb 701. The Red Blaster (still a 1) came with the larger "Raider case" crankcase and dual carbs. The hull didn't change other than the color. I have an original purple, with a Pro-Tec pipe, re-jetted stock carb, a K&N filter, scoop grate, ride plate, and oil injection still in place.
:eek2:

All I need now is a girlfriend for the Blaster so I can have an excuse to buy myself an X2.
