New to jet ski world

Hey all,

First I want to say is wow, did not think that the were so many stand up jet skiers left.

I'm new to the world of jet ski, end of last summer it was so hot out and nothing to do I went out and got a Jet Ski to have some fun in the water and try to stay cool. At that time I knew nothing about Jet Ski's but I wanted something that my girlfriend and I could do, as she is scared of the water I got a sit down jet ski for both of us to ride. it was not an easy task to get her out on it but she slowly started to like it :Banane01:

After looking at many sites and this place I think I will get a stand up ski for me to ride when I go out alone or for when she takes the Cadillac for a ride I can use the stand up.

Hope to join in on some of the events posted here soon....

Welcome aboard. Stand ups are the only way to go if you are doing anything more than renting for a hour, and getting your taste of skis. Stand ups will never get old if you keep the quest for new tricks alive!

do you have your eyes on anything fun?

Well that was going to be my next post asking advice on a stand up for someone new.... will look at something used for now just to see how I like it and if I can ride one :eek5: if all goess well and I don't kill myself on the used one I would get the Yamaha SuperJet next year.

SXR all the way bro! Stable, handles way better than the SJ and imo easier to learn to ride.

There are 1000's of posts on here about SJ vs SXR, this is my opinion having ridden both.

Welcome though and good luck!

having owned both, id get a '96+ superjet and you cant go wrong. it'll be worth what you bought it for for years. unlike some other skis

i've also owned both. my advice would be search the crap out of this forum and make your own opinion! both are great skis.

definitely get a superjet.

"easier to learn to ride"... "handles better"?????

you may as well be describing a 1000 lbs couch like the one in the OP's avatar.

i have ridden both, too. big whoop

sxr is dandy for racing and bouys.

the SJ is the standard for all that is fun.

... and quit saying jetski. people might think you're a kawi lover or something.

i find that no matter what the brand, "jetski" sounds better than "wave runner".

say "jetski", and people are more likely to tend to think 'standup' moreso than when you say "wave runner".

.....may as well just call them skidoo's

I like to say personal water craft as I adjust the tape on the nose of my black rimmed glasses.

or, I just call them skis.

'skis' works here, on the x.. or with other standup riders....

.... but mention 'skis', or 'wave runners', in mixed company and ill guarantee that youll have to specify 'standup'.

i duno... maybe 'jetski' just sounds smaller

... just an observation.... it doesnt really matter i s'pose.
