New steering system issue....any input?

Hey everyone! I have a quick question. I just installed a UMI steering kit with a shortened blowsion turnplate on my roundnose this morning. I initially installed the steering cable knob (don't know the technical name of the little nipply lookin' thing) on the furthest tapped area out. I sanded my stock pole pad inner plastic so the steering cable wouldn't rub on it, however, it seems like the outside setting is putting the cable in somewhat of a bind when you try and crank the bars like you would be turning to the left. I moved the nipply thing in one spot from the furthest out and I don't have the binding anymore. Any ideas on what I can do to get it to work right on the furthest out setting?

Thanks!!!!!!!!

The cable can not bind it needs to hit the steering stops. you need to adjust the cable and grind your steering nozzle where it is hitting for max throw.

so you are sure that the cable is not binding AT ALL? it needs to bottom out on the stops. and it is very unlikely that your steering nozzle will work if it is not clearenced. that ussually binds on the pump causing the cable to not hit the stops.

The cable is not binding at all. It was the plastic on the stock handpole pad on the right hand side near where it is bolted down. If this was not a shortened steering plate, it would have cleared fine.

The nozzle is barely hitting on one side. I am getting ready to yank it off and grind the edge

The stop nut, in stock configuration, is not wide enough for UMI + quickest steering setting. If you rotate it 90 degrees, it's a tad bit wider, stopping the plate before the cable runs out.

I have broken a steering cable before precisely because of this.
