I dunno if I should bite my tongue or not here, but as some of you have seen on ebay there is a quick steer setup for sale. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yama...213104938QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item270213104938

I emailed this guy who is a member on here but doesn't frequent much, and he said they plan on making more. I dont know his company just asked that in reply but this setup uses no bearings or weird bushings, looks just as tough as any other, -2", but for $80. That is $20 cheaper than anyone else, and he said they are happy with that price as far as making a profit. I will probably purchase them, seeing its the one thing not modded on my ski yet. Id like to support our sponsors and guys making them now, but saving 25 bucks is what I care about. Anyways, thought id share since he said they will be making more.

It doesn't look too refined to me. The hardware looks like a zinc-plated bolt/nuts with 2 washers. You need a bushing of some sort to prevent metal on metal contact. I'd also check the wall thickness on the bars. I've seen a fair share of bars break.

BTW, X-metal was selling his new trick setup for $85 in Daytona.

Pretty sure it uses the stock steering bushings, no bearings. Think it's the only shortened teering that uses the stock bushing setup.
Not a bad deal for what all you are getting. It would have to be $20 if it were $100 less than xmetal. it is 1/2 as much.

I run a Blowsion short turnplate with the stock bolt/bushings. freestylegeek make me an adapter bushing of aluminum to match it up. It gets sloppy quick, I have to keep tightening it.

The stock bushing setup stinks.

Yes in Daytona the new steering setup was $85, this was a freeride special price. They are going to retail For $100 for the plate and bushing setup. $120 and it will come with a set of bars. We are out of stock right now, but should have more soon.

Gotcha, still a smoking deal for top notch stuff.

For those with concerns,
There is no metal to metal contact in the steering because it re-uses the factory bushings; which are proven not to wear out or corrode in salt water. There is no slop in the steering system because it uses two jam nuts to set your desired bar tension. The bars and plates both are 6061 aluminum alloy with the plate being .375 inches thick and the bars 24 inches in width and .125 wall thickness. The hardware is Zinc plated and is class 8.8 it is difficult to find stainless steel hardware with any strength ratings. We felt this was a safe alternative and you still get the corrosion resistance from the zinc.

Cheap prices does not mean cheap quality, these are cut with a different machine process which saves us money and allows us to pass the savings on to you.

Keep watching the eBay adds for a link up to our website

Need stainless bolts for sure. Zinc coating does little to nothing for corrosion resistance.
Zinc coated bolts/screws/washers rust the very first time they are in saltwater.

The zinc offers Moderate rust protection, though it is not as resistant as stainless, it is difficult to find stainless steel bolts with a strength rating. Safety was our main concern but if rusts poses an issue we can offer a stainless steel setup.

i picked a set up last month... i'll be using the setup on my new ski this spring. Can't wait to try it out.

I've got the XMW set up on my current ski... works great as well... love the shorter plate and straight bars.

Just an FYI grade 8 cap screws have a 150.000 PSI tensile strength and 18-8 stainless have 70.000 PSI tensile strength

So I see no need for grade 8 on this particular piece.
