i think the idea like i scion would be good where you can have it costomized off the showroom floor. There should be flat and surf model, 2 and 4 stroke and a couple diff sizes of motors to choose from and maybe diff top and bottom decks. I know its a long shot and most of this wont happen unless standups get really really popular and they know people will buy them.

The manufacturer's are listening - they are listening to their dealers. How many people come in and want a standup these days? Everyone wants POWER and SPEED. That's why they keep putting the money into large sitdowns.
Personally, I'd like to see if they could make the standups just a little less expensive - but they probably can't do that with the quantities they actually sell. A cheaper standup would encourage more people to buy, probably younger people as well.
Also, including features like fuel gauge, speedometer, etc. will make entry level consumers feel like they are getting more value. Granted, we don't care about such features, but we represent a very small percentage of the consumers out there.
