New Seat Cover - Installation Questions ...

Hey,

I got a new hydroturf seat cover, and the install instructions are lacking to say the least ...

Did you put the cover over the plastic trim pieces on the sides of the seat, or take them off? It seems like they'd have to be there to prevent the staples from poking through ... am I right?

Is there supposed to be some kind of foam padding over the styrofoam looking stuff?

Thanks,
G

The best advice I can give is to take it to an upholstery shop and let them put it on. To get those staples into the seat base, you need a strong staple gun and you need stainless staples. If you don't own either, then you're looking at spending some money, I'm talking about a powered staple gun, not a manual one. And even a box of stainless staples ain't all that cheap.

Then there's the headache of stretching the cover around and trying to staple it on and you don't know what you're doing and......

Trust me, take it to an upholstery shop......

+1 it's definitely worth paying someone else to do, they aren't as easy as a dirtbike seat

and yes, it's fine to leave the black trim pieces on and just go right over top of them - i've done mine like that anyway :icon16:

Damn ... I guess it's time to look for a shop. What are you paying to have it done if you don't mind me asking?

Local gals shop that she has had for 35 years. She seems to do real good work. She quoted me $60.00 to recover it with her materials. So, we'll see. I hope it turns out OK. Seems cheap to me, but I have seen some of her work and it's super clean.
