Figure I'd share my new winter project with all you fx1 junkies! I'm sure most of you saw this for sale a few months ago ,it's sanoman's old ski. Super clean hull with the Tom21 wide tray and SJ pump tunnel. Looking at the back of this thing is pretty scary i just keep tellin myself it's only fiberglass..yikes! Unfortunately for the ski someone at one point decided a scupper and side exhaust would be a good idea:( , those will both be going away. Once those disappear and i get the tunnel and tray done i may have this local dude i know re-gel the bottom in purple. Just picked up a set of Toby-615 footholds. I also reshapped the rear bondline since i won't be running the stock bumper(mudflap?)Plans are to keep her stock looking with some purple diamond turf! After losing compression in the home ported 62T/61x 710 i was running in my square i recently stepped up to a big bore so i think the old motor is destined for this ski, hit hard in the square so should do even better in this. Anyone who knows me knows i'm real particular and maybe a little OCD about my chit so its gonna take awhile. Once i get going i'll start a build thread- looking forward to riding this next season!

That would be me that decided 10 years a go a scupper and side exhaust was cool.

But glad to see someone get this project going! Good luck

Anytime, not too far from you..just outside of bridgeton in deerfield. Damn thing is roomier than a SJ, almost sxr-ish! Looks like the footholds will just squeeze in.

Nice, I to am about to start up an FX1 build. Does the tom21 pump tunnel not replace the stock ride plate mounts?

no it doesnt, you would have to make a special rideplate that was shaped like the bottom with chines in it. more parts is more money. And there are already several fx plates out there.

What about the intake grate?
Yep as Tom stated it will use an fx1 ride plate.... The rear of new tunnel is the same width as the side walls of the stock pump area, where mine is cut straight across a few inches above the mounts is pretty much where I'll be splicing in. It will now use a SJ intake grate. This mod is definitely not for the faint of heart!!

When l got ready to start cutting the tray out, that was tough.Take a perfectly good ski and start cutting! l was surprised that just a little water had come in under the tray.Right around where the steering cable comes through it was just slightly wet.Yamaha did an awesome job from the fiberglass mat they used to the nice finish work inside. The fx1's must have got some nice treatment when they were under production.
