Super Jet New Product idea: Solid one piece impellar housing

Riva sells totally SS wear rings for 155mm pumps, they are expensive but last a very long time...Has this idea been explored for 144mm and could they be made out of solid billet ?

I know someone can say it's an expendable saltwater part just replace it when needed...but why not eliminate another potential headache ?

Would you buy one ?

I would have several years ago when my OEM one failed from corrosion between the housing and liner but they keep multiplying on my shelf and I somehow find myself with 3 or 4 extra at any time.

BUT, if I was in the market, I would go for an all stainless one before I ever bought a WSM with a liner though. I hated the liners in my seadoo.

A solid SS liner would go nice with a solid SS stator section. You will end up with massive corrosion problems when SS and aluminum parts are against each other. I dont see maintenance driven demand because jetskiers generally dont do any. I can see it as part of an expensive pump package for the "moneys no object" crowd.

Some wear ring thoughts:

Those solas pumps and wear rings look really nice, my only concern would be what they will weigh being all solid SS?

If you go to the a/m wear ring with replaceable liner, then use SBT's liner. It is made from dupont delrin and will fit in either WSM or SBT housing.

Another wear ring option if you are ordering a 144mm Mag pump from Skat is to send a useable core oem wear ring along with pump housing. They will bore out the oem wear ring and install a much thicker SS wear ring in its place. It is of course a little heavier but you shouldn't ever have corrosion related failure again.

have you priced them ?

could one be made out of billet ? wonder if DangerBoy has thought about it....

It would be cost prohibitive to machine from Bar stock for no real gain over a properly investment cast piece
as was stated above Solas is making them and the billet skat track pump has a very thick sleeve that should last quite a while , but they are still a wear item

Be careful with delrin liners as delrin has an absorption (swell) rate with water, and have the potential to move and cause cavitation / cooling issues

SBT advised before that delrin they use is the same acetel plastic used in cutting boards...some guys seem to have good luck with them...oem housings when they swell can wear an impellar out of spec if not discovered soon enough...

If you are having problems with galvanic corrosion then the easiest answer is to seal out the electrolyte.

more weight then I wanna add to my already too heavy mag pump. Maybe Thrusts ne pump is the answer. ALL BILLET alum including the vanes.
A plastic liner wouldnt last long where I ride. One bottle cap or stick and its done for. I have to believe a seashell would cause a headache as well. Seadoo runs them and they are junk.

I wouldn't say they were junk, I have had a run on Seadoo pumps as of late, it seems at about the 12-15 year mark the plastic breaks down and disintegrates, Personally I think 12-15 years on a plastic pump liner is pretty damn good, for damn sure a combination aluminum - stainless liner run in salt water would never last that long.

yami oem seem to last 4-5 yrs in saltwater but then begin to wear your impellar some until you realize it's rubbing the liner...wear ring= wear your expensive impellar...Deblaster has been running the SBT one with good results thus far...

found out that Skat charges 267.00 to bore a stock housing and install a SS liner that is aprox twice as thick...it might not bubble for 10 years, who knows.
